A Plethora of Hat Patterns from all around the Globe.
All proceeds of this publication go to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Blankets for Canada:
A non-denominational organization devoted to creating blankets for those Canadians who need the warmth they provide.

Charity Knit-a-long:
This group is for people who love to knit (or crochet or do other crafts) for charity. You are welcome to discuss and share your knitting for charity, projects, patterns used, favorite yarns, etc.

Cuddle Bear Program:
The "Cuddle Bear Program" offers hand knit bears to individuals with Alzheimer Disease or Dementia who are living in long-term care or in the community of Nova Scotia.

From Teens to Teens:
Once a week, students from Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School in Toronto, Ontario meet to knit outerwear for Covenant House.

Heartfelt Donations--Helping Grimsby Stay Warm:
Heartfelt Donations collects new hand knit or crocheted items to distribute to local areas of need. Items collected are baby layettes and blankets(premi and full term); slippers, socks, mittens, hats and scarves (all for children, teens and adults); bed jackets, lapghans, and afghans; and small animal blankets. These items are delivered to "Out of the Cold Program" in St. Catharine's, McMaster Hospital (premi wear and afghans for seriously ill or traumatized children/teens), local nursing homes, Grimsby Life Centre, West Niagara Second Stage Housing, Community Living, McNally House-Niagara West Community Hospice and Grimsby Animal Hospital. Each item is tagged with the crafters first name to make it more personal.

Keep Canada Warm:
The "Keep Canada Warm" project provides warm handmade blankets for the homeless.

LFTO Knitivism:
After a successful festival in 2007, Ladyfest Toronto is adding a new element this year - knitivism! LFTO Knitivism will be collecting donations of handmade, knitted items for Jessie's Centre for Teenagers and Anduhyaun Emergency Women's Shelter. Any and all donations will find a good home, but there are some things that the recipients have told us are most needed. They are: Hats, mitts and scarves, Slippers, Children's toys, Baby clothes, hats and other baby items, Blankets.
Donations can be dropped off at one of three locations:
West Side Stories (1499 Dundas West), a new video store specializing in women in film and LGBT films
Red Tent Sisters (810 Danforth Ave), a retail and workshop space that is focused on women's health and sexuality
Ryerson Women's Centre (Ryerson Student Centre, 55 Gould Street, Room SCC210). They suggest knitters contact them ahead of time to make sure someone will be in the office. Their phone number is 416 979 5255 ext.2350.

Operation Warm a Sole:
An effort providing washable acrylic slippers for land-based Canadian military members and knitted/crocheted cotton facecloths or 'cool ties' for naval personnel serving in the Middle East.

Project Linus:
A 100% volunteer non-profit organization. It is their mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need through the gifts of NEW, HOMEMADE, WASHABLE blankets and afghans, lovingly crafted by volunteer blanketeers.

Warming Families:
A volunteer project providing blankets and warm items (hats, mittens, etc.) to homeless and domestic violence shelters, as well as foster homes and assisted living facilities. Free patterns and family charity work information available on the website. They are looking for more Canadian area volunteers, click here to sign up!
