I learned to knit at age 6 in Scotland and now design and hand knit Shetland Lace. I have been researching lace information from the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, the National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh, and the Mitchell library in Glasgow, and use my research as the basis of new lace designs - especially lace flowers.
As well as combining old and new patterns, I also like to design articles using purely traditional stitches. My designs are in 1-ply cobweb lace wool, 2-ply Shetland lace wool, #30 cotton, and the finest silk, and include bridal veil, scarves and wraps, samplers, baby shawls, Christening robes, and baby bonnets, hats and shoes.

I send my work for exhibition here in Canada and other parts of the world. My awards and exhibitions include awards in two sections in the 1999 American Knitting Guild lace section, Published in Cast On Magazine, Winner of the 2000 American Knitting Guild Millennium Design Contest, Lace Section.
My work was displayed in "Threads of Life - Culture of Cloth", BC Fabric Artists' Guild 30th Anniversary juried exhibition, Vancouver, Canada, January 2001. This was a display of historical and contemporary works. Exhibited in New South Wales at the Australian Cotton Fibre Expo 2001, "Taking cotton into the new millennium". In 2001 I also had my work exhibited at the Gibson's Fibre Festival in British Columbia. In 2002 my lace design was awarded a Very Highly Commended at the Royal Highland Show in Scotland.
