Judy learned to knit from her grandmother when she was 6 years old. Later, as a busy mother of two with a full time career in the Retail Pharmaceutical Business, she was looking for fast easy knitting projects.
She began designing 'big needle' knit sweaters, and throws using multiple strands of yarn and 10, 12, and 15 mm needles.

A hand-knitter & designer, Judy launched Double Diamond Knits in the winter of 1997 after years of requests for custom knit ski hats, headbands & socks. Her first published design appears in Vogue Knitting on the Go, Weekend Knits.

Judy and her family are avid downhill skiers and snowboarders and the name DOUBLE DIAMOND comes from the symbol that marks the black, double diamond expert ski runs at ski resorts around the world.
