Background:
Over the past 15 years I focused my spare time pursuing my passion for knitting. I attended a textile program at Kootenay School of the Arts in Nelson, BC headed by Judith Mackenzie of spinning fame. Judith was my mentor and gently guided me in my design and business pursuits.
My first experience with hemp fibber was spinning basically something that resembled string. I plied it with a single strand of silk, then designed and knitted my first hemp garment. My obsession with hemp had begun and after years of study and research, in April 2000 Lanaknits Designs was launched. Hemp as a yarn is ecofriendly, resilient, soft & luxurious and no other yarn has such outstanding drape, lustre & easy care.
