This is the national knitting guild of the US and offers information about upcoming conferences, correspondence courses and Master Knitters courses. They also provide some free patterns, listings of associated guilds throughout the US and information on their publication Cast-On.

The Knitter's Guide to Copyright
A a guide to the law of copyright written with knitters, designers, and pattern users in mind. But it's not just for knitters! The Guide is useful if you want detailed explanations about the rights of designers and the crafters who use their patterns.
Mailing Lists:
Aranknit: Aranknit is a list for all knitters interested in Aran knitting. Whether you're a beginner or working on your 100th Aran sweater, you're welcome to ask questions, offer tips and suggestions, or just share your current project with us.
CanSpin: List for Canadian fiber artists who want to keep in touch with what's happening with other spinners, knitters, weavers, etc.
DyersList: An internet mailing list intended for discussion of technical questions, problems and information related to immersion dyeing and to the surface application of synthetic dyes, textile pigments and related chemicals to fabric and fiber.
Fair Isle Knitting: This list is for anyone interested in Fair Isle knitting. All levels of knitters are encouraged to join, post, comment, and offer or request help.
KnitDesign: This list is for the knitter that is interested in discussing the design process. This will encompass both hand and machine knit wear and participants will be encouraged to stay on topic.
Knit-U: A commercial knitlist sponsered by XRX Inc.
Knitlist: A knitlist with 3400 members, for the non-commercial sharing of knitting questions and content worldwide.
Lace Knitters: Dedicated to the love of knitting lace.
Modular knitting: This list is aimed at knitters who are interested in the various types of modular and multi-directional knitting (domino knitting, entrelac,log cabin) -- essentially knitting that moves in a direction other than the traditional bottom to top, top to bottom.
Socknitters: Socknitters is a mailing list for anyone interested in knitting socks by hand.
Spin-List: A list for hand spinners to share their love of all types of fiber. Although we all have handspinning, either on a wheel or a spindle, in common, we also talk about knitting, crochet, weaving, tatting, dyeing, raising and grooming fiber animals and many other fiber related topics.
TechKnit: TechKnit is a mailing list for people interested in knitting and spinning. Message content includes questions and discussions of problems and solutions for general and specific knitting and spinning projects, critiques and review of related publications (magazines, books, videos, etc.) and other similar topics.
